Agricom Group increases the oats area
Each year Agricom Group systematically increases the area under oats. In 2020, 1,600 hectares had been sown, in 2021 – 2,300 hectares, and 2,700 hectares are planned for next year. In addition to the ordinary culture, the holding’s farms grow gluten-free oats, and the its area will also be expanded.
Eugene Gorlo, Director of the Production and Development Department of Agricom Group, told InfoIndustriya about this in a comment. He noted that the cultivation of gluten-free oats is somewhat different from the ordinary one.
The first feature is spatial isolation, the fields should not border on gluten-containing crops, such as wheat, rye, barley.
The second feature is the observance of crop rotation. It is important that 4-5 years there have not been these crops in the fields.
Such conditions shall be observed in order to prevent the insertion of gluten-containing crops’ seeds to the oats.
The first year of cultivation Agricom Group’s farms used domestic breeds. Currently, we assess the imported breeds alongside. This year’s oat yield ranged from 3.5 to 4 tons per hectare.
