Three years of Mi-Agro elevator complex: how that all began
The decision to start construction was made on February 19, 2012, and in March already the first cars with materials such as cement (1.5 thousand tons were used), gravel (4.5 thousand tons) and sand (6 thousand tons) started to come to the place. At the construction site the concrete and mortar plant was set in order to provide the production of concrete for foundation and other needs.
In May, 2012, the works on first steel structures production were started at Karlov Machine Engineering Plant in Poltava region, while silos assembling was started in June already. During the period till December of 2012 five silos with the capacity of 6 thousand tons each as well as two storage silos with the total capacity of one million tons were constructed. At this time over fifty workers were involved at the construction site.
“Silo tower №3 that started to work immediately was built the first. Our elevator began to receive products while being constructed already. I remember the first year both grain and cement, and concrete passed via the weight checking point. In 2012 we received and shipped 5.6 thousand tons of the crop successfully. Indeed, such amounts cannot be compared with the results of the last, 2014, year (65 thousand tons), but under the conditions of construction – this is a very good indicator,” told Olga Ivanova, the head of the production and technical laboratory of the enterprise. She added: “Also that from the very beginning, from 2012, the laboratory for 12 accredited cultures operates at the enterprise.”
Besides the elevator itself, the company got weighting facilities, a laboratory, a sampling device, an office building, a water tower, a well, grounds, roads etc. Along with creation of new material and technical basis of the enterprise, the management was working on creation of a new team of high-qualified professionals in their field. Without such staff the work the whole complex would be impossible: the high-precision equipment needs not only knowledge but also experience and, thus, all newcomers have to pass trainings on a mandatory basis.
“We started the construction with the enterprise management, understanding that we would develop efficiently in the direction of crop growing on farmlands of Belokurakine cluster, taking into account that the material and technical basis of our competitors was out-of-date and has significant energy consumption. We were investing in the future and without that we could lose the crop from the enterprises of Belokurakine, Markov, Novopskovsk and Troitske districts in 2013, when there was no access to the regional elevator,” told Petro Melnyk, Agricom Group CEO.
Currently the elevator complex with the storage capacity of 41 thousand tons consists of the technological belt conveyor for receiving, processing, cleaning, drying, storage and grain shipment, with a flexible connection between rhythm and productivity of all machines and mechanisms, and the granary for grain receiving from the auto transport, cleaning, storage in silos and shipment by automobile transport.
Today it turned three years from the moment of Mi-Agro elevator complex construction start. The teams of all Agricom Group territorial units join the congratulations and wish only increase the enterprise performance results in the future.
The construction of an elevator complex in Bilokurakine district was started at the times when farmers faced the problem of lack of effective granaries in the region. The area, a traditional agricultural producer, was in a difficult situation. However, due to the efforts of Mi-Agro enterprise, a part of the national agro-industrial Agricom Group, the problem was solved: the town of Bilokurakine got a new modern elevator complex.
